Soul Perspective
I’m age 17. It’s my first year at University, 3,000 miles from home. I’m in a first-floor co-ed dorm, by myself, sitting in a chair in the middle of a ‘desk’ room that is situated next to my 5 female roommates next door, sleeping in their bunk beds.
I’m taking a break - from studying, from people, from prescripts - letting my thoughts wander.
I become curious about ‘mind over matter’. I want to prove to myself that this concept is true. I make a decision to use the power of my mind to control an unconscious, autonomic body function. I pick swallowing.
I will myself not to swallow, as a drop of saliva slowly slides down the back of my throat. My breathing becomes rapid. All at once, in what seems to be one-motion, something from the base of my torso shoots straight up my spine and out the top of my head - and I’m looking down at my body.
I can ‘see’ my body, slumped over in the chair, and I can ‘see’ the contents of the room - though I don’t have eyes. I am ‘thinking’ thoughts in the way I ordinarily think thoughts - though I don’t have a brain. I think, in a wondering kind of way: if I stay out of my body, will my body die, and then, I won’t be able to get back in? As the thought concludes, instantly, I’m back in my body.
Later, I would come to learn I had a ‘Kundalini’, ‘out-of-body’ experience.
That experience formed a line of thoughts - forming my base belief that (1) ‘I’ have a physical body; (2) when I’m in the physical body, ‘we’ are inexplicably connected; (3) ‘I’ am more than my physical body; (4) my personal ‘energetic body’ or ‘soul’ or ‘spirit’ exists with or without the physical body; and (5) my personality may have existed and may in the future exist without being housed in a physical body.
Integrating this line of thinking - with 40+ years of studies and many more personal ‘spiritual’ experiences - led me to a belief system in which the ‘energetic body’ or ‘soul’ or ‘spirit’ exists in three forms.
The following is a 101 description of Ami’s 3 Forms of the Energetic-Body:
The personal energetic body. (I experienced this in the above story). You have your own way of seeing things, thinking, feeling… a personal paradigm; a personality; what makes you uniquely ‘you’. You are a puzzle piece, unique among other unique puzzle pieces that fit together to form a whole picture. You have a gift to share; you are the gift. You are a necessary part of the Whole. You are like a ray of sunshine. You are like a water drop of love.
The ‘soul family’. Each of us is a part of a larger ‘family’. We give each other ‘opportunities’ to better understand or learn those things we (individually) wish to know. Soul Family members make commitments to act as ‘dark angel’ or ‘light angel’ (for lack of better terms) to deliver these opportunities.
Soul Family members travel together - though not all members embody in each lifetime. Soul family members may play different roles for each other in different lifetimes. They may show up in one lifetime only.
Sometimes it’s easy to spot a member of your ‘soul family’. You may identify with each other as ‘soul mates’. You may know you’ve met before (but at the same time, know you haven’t - not in this life). You may sense ‘guardian angel(s)’ watching out for you (though you don’t see, hear, touch anyone or anything).
When the last member of the Soul Family leaves their body, the family is (energetically) reunited in Love. There is no ‘darkness’ in Love. The Soul Family is a (larger) part of the Whole (larger than the Personal Energetic Body). The Soul Family is like a huge beam of sunlight (made up of individual rays of sunshine). The Soul Family is like a love-river (made up of love-drops of water).
The ‘energetic flow’. This can also be called the ‘universal flow’, the ‘energetic field’, ‘Flow’, ‘Source’, and ‘G-d’. This is like being (what we used to say) “in the groove” - when everything ‘clicks’ together, is in harmony, and flows easily. It’s the experience of feeling connected - with Self, Others, Nature, the Energetic Field, Source - of being at-one with everything. It’s the experience of seeing Source in all things.
The Energetic Flow is like the Sun itself - brilliant, all-encompassing, Light - absorbing multitudes of huge beams and innumerable individual rays of sunlight. The Energetic Flow is like an infinite and eternal Ocean of Love - absorbing all love-rivers and individual drops of love.
In this system, we move in and out of each of the 3 forms of Energetic existence and we exist simultaneously in all 3 forms.
