Let's Keep Waking Up
I am always stunned when someone responds to my blogs. I don’t expect it, and when I hear from you, I’m glad. I think my blogs are worthwhile, and I very much want others to read and get something from them.
The blog I receive the most emails about is Black Lives Matter, posted on June 13, 2020. Mostly, people send information they’d like added to the reference list I’ve consolidated. When I receive these emails, I read or watch or listen to their suggestion, and then add their reference link to the blog so you can read, watch, or listen too.
Ima stand on my soapbox for a moment, here. Just take a seat and breathe. Thanks for indulging me.
Being an “antiracist” is not a noun. It’s a verb. We need to stay active with our self-education - keep deepening our understanding about systemic racism - so that we can be active in both our responses to racism and in our endeavors toward creating a realistic, compassionate and equitable culture. This is not going to happen on its own. Its not gonna happen from reading that-book-three-years-ago and being, once again, lost in our systemic racist culture-as-usual routine.
I’m not saying this to shame anyone. I need this reminder to stay active, so I figure you might too. I’m reminding both of us of our higher Self visions and values. I’m reminding both of us to stay active toward creating a realistic culture of compassion and equity.
I’m asking us, right now, to revisit the 6/13/20 Black Lives Matter blog. Pick something from the reference list and read it, watch it, listen to it, do it. Reading through the list, maybe you’ll notice that I don’t have what’s on your list. Have you got something you’d like me to add? Email me. I’ll add it.
I’m with you. Together, we’ll keep waking up.
